The Voodoo Experience, a music festival that in its 10-year history has landed Grammy-winning rapper Lil Wayne, R.E.M., Joss Stone and hundreds of other acts, will fall this year on the same holiday it was launched, Halloween. Voodoo is said by its organizers to be inspired as much by the magic and mystery of New Orleans as its eclectic mix of music, which is what makes Halloween a perfect fit for the festival. "People seem to embrace the Voodoo and New Orleans spirit a little more when they come to the festival in various forms of costume and disguise," said festival founder Stephen Rehage, who also produces the event. Voodoo's debut occurred on the Halloween weekend in 1999, but it has coincided with the holiday only one other time since. This year it is scheduled to run Oct. 30-Nov. 1.
