Temptations singer Ali-Ollie Woodson dies at 58

Ali-Ollie Woodson, who led the legendary Motown quintet The Temptations in the 1980s and '90s and helped restore them to their hit-making glory with songs including "Treat Her Like A Lady," has died, a friend said. He was 58. Woodson died Sunday in southern California after battling cancer, Motown Alumni Association President Billy Wilson said. Wilson said Woodson's wife, Juanita, told him about the death Sunday. Woodson was not an original member of the group, which had several lineup changes since it started in the 1960s. But he played an integral part in keeping the Temptations from becoming just nostalgia act.

Out Of Exile: Stones Rolling To Number One

Out Of Exile: Stones Rolling To Number OneThe re-release of the classic Rolling Stones album Exile On Main Street is on course to land the band their first Number One in almost two decades. The reworked version of the 1972 release - one of their most acclaimed records - currently leads the battle to top this weekend's list. But the mid-week figures from The Official Charts Company show the Stones do not have the competition totally licked. Only 1,000 sales separate the veteran rock 'n' rollers from electronica gods Faithless, whose album The Dance is ensuring a tight race

US judge rules against LimeWire in music piracy case

A US judge has ruled in favor of 13 music companies in a copyright case against popular online file-sharing service LimeWire. Relying heavily on a Supreme Court judgement against song-swapping service Grokster, US District Court Judge Kimba Wood found LimeWire and its owner Mark Gorton liable for copyright infringement and unfair competition. "The evidence establishes that LimeWire users directly infringed plaintiffs' copyrights, and that LimeWire engaged in purposeful conduct intended to foster that infringement," Wood said in a 59-page ruling on Tuesday that was released on Wednesday. "Free distribution of the recordings through LimeWire competes with plaintiffs' sales of the recordings," Wood said. "Accordingly, the court grants plaintiffs' motion for summary judgment on their unfair competition claim against LimeWire," she said.
