Songs for Shelter features the cream of Seattle songwriters and musicans from the 70's, 80's, 90's and 21st Century--many of them world renowned--coming together in a collection of new music to benefit homeless families in King County, WA. Primarily folksy, the cd ranges from blues to funk, traditional Irish to rock. It features performers including Laura Veirs, Martin Hayes, Laura Love and Danny O'Keefe. Unlike most compilation projects that only recyle album tracks, Songs for Shelter features 10 cuts that have never been released before, including 8 tracks recorded specifically for the project and two songs written expressly for it. One hundred percent of the proceeds from Songs for Shelter will go to support shelter, case management and homelessness prevention programs of Seattle's Fremont Public Association's, a service and advocacy agency that helps 25,000 families each year to overcome poverty and build brighter futures

It could be just what the world needs now - Burt Bacharach writing lyrics. The legendary, 77-year-old composer has found his voice in a politically charged album "At This Time" that features his first lyrics ever in a nearly 50-year career creating some of pop music's best-known love songs. "You could say, 'How does a guy who has written love songs his entire life suddenly decide to rock the boat?"' Bacharach says about the album that will be released internationally on October 24, with a U.S. release on November 1

Shania Twain: Beginnings

Although famous for her blend of pop and country, Shania Twain proves she's a rocker at heart with the release of Beginnings, a full length album recorded, written, performed with Paul Sabu (Heart, Madonna, David Bowie, Alice Cooper) in the early 90s. Released for the first time after it's recent completion, Beginnings is reminiscent of the hard-edged rock styling of Heart and Melissa Etheridge. Backed by Paul Sabu and Todd Herreman (Prince) the performance and production is world-class. Mastered by the renowned Arnie Acosta(U2, Pink Floyd, Bonnie Raitt). Beginnings perfects the only way an album was meant to be heard...big, rich, and dynamically amazing

Not In Our Name: Broken Arrow Records

This CD showcases musical contributions from a host of well-known and highly respected artists. Highlights include the title track from Ani DiFranco's Evolve, a remix from Michael Franti & Spearhead, a live Ozomatli cut, and recent releases from Charlie Hunter and Les Claypool.

The set also features a new recording of Jonatha Brooke's "War"; an unreleased collaboration between Latin jazz pianist Omar Sosa, producer Greg Landau (Susana Baca, John Santos) and vocalist Manny Martinez (Los Mocosos), and a song from Shana Morrison (Van Morrison's daughter) co-written with Narada Michael Walden. The trend-setting world-beat group the Looters reunited to remix their WWII internment camp tale "Manzanar", and two new voices make stunning debuts: breaking R&B talent Martin Luther, who just finished touring with the Roots, and Garrin Benfield, accompanied by Bonnie Raitt's band.

The disc package exhibits powerful photography from Iraq by embedded journalist and 2004 National Magazine Award winner Evan Wright (Rolling Stone) and from Afghanistan by Alexandra Boulat (National Geographic). Proceeds from the sale of the CD will be donated to Not In Our Nam
