Get It Loud In Libraries (UK)
"This March sees the national roll-out of Get It Loud In Libraries. The award winning programme of live music in public libraries has witnessed incendiary performances from critically acclaimed artists such as Adele, Bat For Lashes and Florence + The Machine, reverberate amongst the traditionally quiet bookshelves. Kicking off the month of music will be the talented 16 year old pop starlet, Daisy Dares You who is due to storm the UK's libraries bookshelves on a six date tour. Get It Loud In Libraries originates from libraries in Lancashire, where the tiny stage has showcased the talents of The Blackout, British Sea Power and Juliette Lewis. The project was conceived by Stewart Parsons of Lancashire Libraries to allow more relevant cultural access to libraries for young people who love music but don't necessarily use libraries. It is proving a popular, original format for delivering the traditional library brief to entertain, inform and educate"

After rockin' all over the world for more than 40 years, the two remaining original members of Status Quo have been awarded OBEs by the Queen. Rick Parfitt and Francis Rossi were given the honours for their hugely successful musical career, including more than 118 million record sales worldwide. Singer-guitarist Parfitt, 61, and lead singer Rossi, 60, chalked up 22 British top 10 singles, including Down Down in 1974, Rockin' All Over The World in 1977 and Whatever You Want in 1979. The OBEs also recognise the pair's work for good causes as they raised millions of pounds for charity over the years. They supported the music therapy charity Nordoff Robbins, the Prince's Trust, which helps disadvantaged youngsters, and the British Heart Foundation

MFE Magazine looking for writers
"We are seeking writers and reporters for a urban music magazine. We're currently looking for freelance contributors in two different areas. First, we're looking for someone who can write about urban music and fashion. Second, we are also looking for a more general category of writer who can produce a broad range of journalistic work, from long-form magazine features to shorter, essay-style pieces to commissioned stories for special issues. The writer would both pitch original ideas and be willing to take on assignments. Demonstrated writing ability is a must. If interested, please send a resume and clips/writing samples to mfemagazine@yahoo.com"

Dusty Springfield - British Invasion 60's Music 'Once Upon A Time 1964-1969'
Unquestionably Britain's greatest female vocalist, Dusty Springfield made some of the finest recordings of the sixties. Dusty Springfield: Once Upon A Time 1964-1969 features 20 complete songs filmed from 1964 to 1969 and has all of her greatest hits and more. Included on the DVD are her early classics I Only Want To Be With You, Wishin' And Hopin' and I Just Don't Know What To Do With My Self as well as timeless hits Son Of A Preacher Man, The Look Of Love and You Don't Have To Say You Love Me. In between the performances, Dusty's story is told through new interviews with Burt Bacharach, singer Madeline Bell (who sang back-up for Dusty in the 60s) and Simon Bell (who sang back-up for Dusty from the 70s through the 90s) filmed exclusively for the DVD as well as Dusty herself via a newly discovered, previously unseen biographical interview from 1978. The bonus features include Dusty's complete 1965 and 1966 New Musical Express Poll Winners Concert appearances as well as a duet with Burt Bacharach on A House Is Not A Home. This DVD is one of the first four releases in the British Invasion series and is also sold as part of the British Invasion Boxset along with Gerry & The Pacemakers, Small Faces and Hermans Hermits DVDs.
