BitTorrent launches Entertainment Network
BitTorrent, a provider of delivering media over the internet, has launched the BitTorrent Entertainment Network. The new network features a library of downloadable digital entertainment, including content from 20th Century Fox, Lions Gate, MTV Networks, Paramount Pictures, Warner Bros. Home Entertainment and Metro-Goldwyn-Mayer Studios, Inc. (MGM). The BitTorrent community will have the flexibility to rent movies, purchase television shows and music videos, and publish and share their own content to be displayed alongside titles from various studios

Interscope Geffen A&M said it will launch a new label with Octone Records, calling it A&M/Octone. As part of the deal, A&M/Octone was also acquiring Sony BMG Music Entertainment's interest in OctJay, a joint venture between Sony BMG and Octone, Interscope said. Financial details were not disclosed
Recording industry targets colleges
Cracking down on college students, the music industry is sending thousands more complaints to top universities this school year than it did last year as it targets music illegally downloaded over campus computer networks. A few schools, including Ohio and Purdue universities, already have received more than 1,000 complaints accusing individual students since last fall - significant increases over the past school year. For students who are caught, punishments vary from e-mail warnings to semester-long suspensions from classes

5 Grammys mark Dixie Chicks' comeback
The Dixie Chicks completed a defiant comeback on Sunday night, capturing five Grammy awards after being shunned by the country music establishment over the group's anti-Bush comments leading up to the Iraq invasion. The Texas trio won all the biggest categories, including record and song of the year for the no-regrets anthem "Not Ready to Make Nice." They also won best country album, which was especially ironic considering they don't consider themselves country artists anymore
