'Like a Virgin' for Skype
Users of the popular internet telephone service Skype will be able to hear ringtones taken from the Warner Music Group stable of artists including Madonna, the record label said on Monday. In what it said was the first such tie-up with an internet telecommunications player, Warner said the 74 million registered users of Skype would get the option to have their incoming calls announced by a host of tunes

Langerado Music Festival
The 4th Annual Langerado Music Festival has announced the preliminary lineup for its March 11-12 multi-stage event, highlighted by major artists like The Black Crowes, Wilco, the Flaming Lips, and Ben Harper & the Innocent Criminals. The two-day festival takes place at Broward County's Markham Park, on the western edge of the Ft. Lauderdale, just an hour north of Miami and bordering the vast Florida Everglades Wildlife Area. Berlin record label showcases computer-assisted sound design
Record label ~scape has been unearthing the latest underground sounds in futuristic dub, jazzy electronica and experimental hiphop since its founding in 1999 by Barbara Presisnger and musician, DJ, remixer and producer, Stefan Betke (otherwise known as Pole). Clear Channel launches Music On-Demand
Clear Channel Communications Inc. has announced plans to begin testing a free, music video-on-demand service as part of a strategy to bolster its Internet presence. The advertising supported service will be free to users. Between 2,000 to 3,000 music videos from artists at Warner Music Group and Universal Music Group will be featured on some of its radio station Web sites and a third music label is likely to join, although a deal has not been finalized, according to company sources. The launch is part of a restructuring of its Internet properties across the nation. Last year, the radio company began offering site viewers originally produced interviews and shows with musicians. Clear Channel has also begun to offer downloadable podcasts

Universal Music was the biggest music company of 2005 in the USA with a 31.71% market share according to Nielsen SoundScan. Universal beat the now combined Sony BMG who came in second with a 25.61% market share. That broke down to 13.83% Sony and 11.78% BMG
